Welcome to Osteopathy Victoria

Initial consult varies between 30 to 45-60 minutes. On arrival you will be asked to complete a form regarding your medical and health history and your Osteopath will gather further information in the consultation room that is relevant to your presentation.

A thorough examination and postural analysis will be performed to assess the nature of your condition. Following assessment, a treatment and management plan will be discussed, and the osteopathic  treatment will then commence.

If relevant, you may be given ergonomic or postural advice regarding changes you could make to your daily activities that may assist in your recovery, e.g. adjusting desk, seating and computer equipment, even adjusting your car seat to avoid prolonged issues with driving.

A stretching and/or strengthening program can also be provided.’

Pain Management

Early injury and pain management is very important. While individual professional osteopathy advice should be sought,

it is generally accepted that immediately following injury, it is recommended that people do not continuously

forcefully move or stretch the injured region.

Rest should be implemented and further stress on the injured region should be avoided – for example, lying

down on your back or side, avoiding prolonged sitting periods doing deskwork for neck pain.

The rest period may be up to 48 hours.

As a guideline, any condition that is associated with severe pain extending down the thighs, legs and / or feet,

or down the arms, forearms and / or hands, with weakness and / or loss of feeling, should consult their health

professional as soon as possible.
